Workshop Manager – Value Vacancies

Purpose of the Job
Drive service excellence, sales growth, and profitability by maximising productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction within the workshop.

Key Responsibilities

Staff Management

  • Oversee staff attendance, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Coach and supervise team members to ensure a customer-focused environment.
  • Enforce adherence to dress code and PPE requirements.
  • Identify staff training and development needs.
  • Conduct performance reviews and appraisals.
  • Hold regular staff meetings and feedback sessions.

Workshop Operations & Capacity Planning

  • Plan daily work in progress (WIP) effectively.
  • Monitor and manage workshop productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with Service Advisors and Parts department to ensure parts availability.
  • Ensure all vehicles are serviced according to OE service schedules and standards.
  • Optimise workshop operations and resource utilisation.

Customer Service

  • Keep internal and external customers informed on vehicle progress.
  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.

Workshop Administration

  • Ensure accurate data entry in Embrace, including hours, job start/end dates, fault codes, and job types.
  • Adhere to all administration SOPs.
  • Ensure correct costing and closing of job cards.
  • Maintain proper documentation, both manual and electronic.
  • Submit job cards according to the monthly handover schedule.
  • Process quotations for outsourced or outwork jobs in a timely manner.
  • Sign off job cards in line with requirements.
  • Ensure all recovery billing is recorded and invoiced correctly.

Reporting

  • Pull daily open job card and purchase order reports, investigating any discrepancies.
  • Submit required reports to management on time.

Asset Management

  • Manage and maintain all company assets.
  • Report any damage or loss of assets to management.
  • Follow SOP and authority schedules for asset disposal.

Recoveries & Warranty Claims

  • Ensure correct procedures for recoveries and warranty claims are followed.

Financial Management

  • Manage workshop operations cost-effectively within budget.
  • Report on profit and loss statements as required.

Quality Standards

  • Ensure availability of correct tools and equipment.
  • Conduct regular spot checks to maintain service standards.

Apprentice Programme

  • Oversee and manage the apprentice programme nationally.

General Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • Support operational functions as required.
  • Ensure compliance with dress code and housekeeping standards.
  • Uphold health and safety standards consistently.
