Tyre & Mechanical Assistant – Value Logistics

About the Role
Value Logistics is seeking a dedicated Tyre & Mechanical Assistant to support vehicle maintenance, tyre management, and workshop operations. This role includes assisting with mechanical repairs and services, conducting tyre surveys, attending roadside breakdowns, and ensuring vehicles are clean and ready for depot departure.

The Tyre & Mechanical Assistant plays a key role in maintaining vehicle safety, workshop efficiency, and operational readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Tyre Duties

• Strip, fit, and replace tyres as required
• Maintain correct tyre pressures and conduct regular tyre inspections
• Perform tyre surveys and identify vehicles needing corrective actions
• Attend to smooth or damaged tyres and complete tyre change slips accurately
• Torque wheel nuts and fit wheel nut indicators where necessary
• Maintain tyre stock and ensure workshop tyre inventory is accurate
• Drive to site and attend to tyre-related breakdowns promptly
• Keep workshop and tyre bay tools clean and organised

Mechanical & Workshop Assistance

• Assist with mechanical repairs, vehicle services, and maintenance
• Support the workshop team in daily operations and breakdowns
• Complete job card service schedules and parts listings as required
• Assist in controlling spare parts and tyre stock
• Maintain workshop, parts, tyre stores, and washbay housekeeping standards
• Support operational tasks as required

Washbay & Housekeeping Duties

• Ensure vehicles are washed and cleaned before leaving the depot
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment
• Follow company dress code and PPE requirements
• Adhere to all Health and Safety standards

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Relevant mechanical and tyre experience

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of basic Health and Safety procedures relevant to the role
• Ability to identify hazards and respond under guidance
• Ability to work under supervision while following standard operating procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workshop cleanliness and organisation
