Tyre Maintenance Controller – Value Logistics Vacancies

Purpose of the Job
Value Logistics is looking for a proactive Tyre Maintenance Controller to conduct routine tyre maintenance, surveys, and breakdown support for the company’s fleet of vehicles. This role involves driving to various sites, maintaining accurate tyre records, ensuring vehicle safety, and supporting overall fleet readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Management

• Ensure tyre stock is securely stored at all times
• Assist in investigating and reporting discrepancies daily
• Support monthly cycle counts of tyre inventory

Tyre Surveys

• Drive to assigned sites as required
• Prioritise vehicle tyre surveys and maintenance according to the fleet list provided
• Conduct daily tyre surveys using the Intersect tyre management software or manual documentation if offline
• Record accurate information including brand numbers, wheel positions, tyre pressures, and tread depth
• Ensure all vehicle tyres, including spares, are surveyed and tyre pressures corrected monthly
• Spray spare wheel rims with red paint for easy identification
• Ensure wheel nuts are torqued correctly and wheel nut indicators are fitted or replaced if missing
• Take photos of scrap tyres and submit them to the supervisor
• Communicate daily progress, identified tyre issues, and pending surveys to your supervisor

Branding of Tyres

• Report unbranded tyres to the supervisor
• Apply brand markings according to the provided listing

Tyre Replacement

• Identify and replace smooth, punctured, or damaged tyres according to SOPs
• Complete tyre change slips accurately and submit them daily to the supervisor

Tyre Rotations

• Rotate tyres according to tread matching requirements
• Complete and submit tyre rotation slips accurately and on time

Breakdown Support

• Ensure the breakdown support vehicle is equipped with the correct tyres for each incident
• Attend to tyre-related breakdowns promptly and safely, following South African driving regulations
• Complete breakdown reports and tyre change slips
• Return damaged or punctured tyres to the depot and hand them over to the supervisor

Company Equipment & Assets

• Keep tyre maintenance tablets and tools secured when not in use
• Conduct daily vehicle checklists and submit them to the supervisor
• Ensure vehicles are parked, locked, and keys handed to the supervisor after each shift
• Report any accidents or vehicle damages immediately
• Maintain tools and equipment in working order and report defects promptly
• Submit tyre bay tool checklists weekly

Housekeeping

• Maintain clean and organized work areas and company vehicles

Health & Safety

• Follow all safety rules and regulations to protect yourself and colleagues
• Use the correct PPE at all times
• Report health and safety concerns and near misses immediately

General

• Adhere to all company policies including SOPs, HR policies, POPIA compliance, dress code, attendance, and smoking regulations
• Assist with additional company requirements as needed
• Weekend work may occasionally be required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Code B driver’s license
• 1–2 years’ experience with heavy-duty tyres
• Physically able to lift heavy objects
