TECHNOLOGIST – Woolworths Vacancies

Woolworths is seeking a dedicated Technologist to uphold brand integrity, product quality, and safety while driving innovation in food development. This role focuses on ensuring legal compliance, managing suppliers, and delivering high-quality, safe, and consistent products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on product quality and safety standards
  • Deliver on the departmental operating plan, implementing technical and scientific aspects
  • Ensure legal compliance of all products with proper due diligence
  • Develop packaging solutions that meet legislation, functionality, business objectives, and shelf-life requirements
  • Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, safe products aligned with Woolworths’ standards
  • Educate and share technical knowledge with team members, suppliers, and the wider organisation
  • Build customer trust by ensuring food safety, quality, and product consistency, preventing re-occurrence of non-compliance
  • Lead the new product development process for innovative, high-quality products
  • Engage effectively across Foods and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc in Food Science, BTech in Food Technology, or BSc in Biotechnology with 3–5 years’ experience
  • Understanding of high- and low-risk food processing, including prepared foods
  • Knowledge of technical processes and principles, including HACCP, GMP, and supply chain operations
  • Proven industry experience across a range of products
  • Technical product knowledge including raw material sourcing, manufacturing processes, and quality/safety parameters
  • Understanding of packaging functionality and application
