Job Description

Spar Vacancies is seeking a skilled TECHNICAL DATA DEVELOPER to support data migration, analysis, and system operations while ensuring data accuracy and governance standards are maintained. This role focuses on supporting business teams with data processes, resolving data-related issues, and contributing to the development and maintenance of reliable data systems.

Key Performance Areas

Data Migration Support

• Assist with source-to-target mapping of data fields and verify that source extracts meet required specifications
• Support business users in reviewing and troubleshooting data-related errors
• Review system reports and highlight discrepancies or issues requiring correction

Data Cleansing and Reconciliation

• Monitor, process, and maintain data cleansing requests
• Work with Business Analysts and Business Data Analysts to investigate and resolve data issues in line with established business rules and data standards
• Assist with extracting data reports and dashboards for analysis
• Reconcile extracted data with source systems to ensure accuracy and consistency
• Escalate unresolved data errors to the Data Manager or Business Data Analyst when necessary
• Participate in user acceptance testing where required

Data Extract Analysis and Development

• Develop technical proficiency in SAP Data Services and SQL to build and manage data extracts within a structured Systems Development Life Cycle framework
• Review data extracts to confirm accuracy and completeness
• Maintain and update relevant technical system documentation

System Support and Monitoring

• Recommend system modifications and enhancements to improve application performance and resolve issues
• Configure batch schedules and monitor system jobs to ensure successful execution

Data Governance

• Contribute to the development and improvement of the data governance framework, standards, and business rules
• Ensure master data meets quality standards including accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity
• Identify and correct data inaccuracies in collaboration with business teams as soon as they are detected

Additional Responsibilities

• Perform additional duties and tasks as required by management

Minimum Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Matric certificate
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working within the Systems Development Life Cycle or in a similar data analytics environment
• Proven experience supporting or participating in data migration projects
• Practical experience with SAP Data Services and SQL
