Job Description
Spar Vacancies is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Store Manager to oversee the overall operations of the store while ensuring operational excellence, strong team leadership, and sustainable sales growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing store departments, maintaining inventory standards, and driving strategies that enhance customer satisfaction and business performance.
Key Performance Areas
- Oversee and coordinate the daily operations of all store departments
- Monitor and manage shrinkage levels to ensure they remain within the company’s targeted ratio
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures to reduce stock loss
- Develop and implement effective sales and marketing strategies to increase store revenue
- Recruit, train, and develop store employees to build a high-performing team
- Negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best possible procurement terms
- Manage store budgets and financial planning to ensure profitability
- Review sales reports and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement
- Utilize SIGMA or similar stock management systems to monitor and control inventory
- Analyse management reports to support informed decision-making
- Maintain high store standards with strong attention to detail and operational compliance
- Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational guidelines
- Lead, motivate, and support staff while fostering a positive and productive work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members, suppliers, and stakeholders
- Organize and manage store operations efficiently with strong time management skills
- Operate retail management software and point-of-sale systems effectively
- Maintain flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and various shifts as required
- Introduce new initiatives and promotional ideas to increase store foot traffic
- Manage inventory levels and ensure product quality and presentation standards are maintained
- Monitor market trends and competitor activities to remain competitive
- Set sales targets for store teams and review performance regularly
- Apply labour policies and workplace regulations in daily store operations
Minimum Requirements
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Management or a related field is advantageous
- 3–5 years’ experience in retail, merchandising, sales, or a related field within the retail industry
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors
- Proven leadership ability with the capability to motivate and guide employees
- Experience managing staff including delegation of duties, time and attendance monitoring, and handling disciplinary and industrial relations matters
- Strong organisational and operational management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment while maintaining high service and operational standards
