Introduction
Clicks Group Careers is offering an exciting opportunity for a driven and results-oriented Store Manager. Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful candidate will oversee all store operations to ensure outstanding performance and customer satisfaction.
Job Purpose
To ensure the efficient operation of the store by leading and directing the store operations team to achieve sales, profit, and compliance targets, ultimately strengthening the brand’s competitive position.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive and maximise sales by tracking daily, weekly, and monthly targets and implementing corrective actions where necessary
- Manage and control all operational activities, including expenses, stock management, shrinkage, housekeeping, and administration
- Oversee visual merchandising to ensure promotional and presentation standards align with brand image
- Recruit, lead, and develop a competent and motivated team to meet current and future business needs
- Schedule staff effectively in line with labour policies to ensure optimal departmental coverage
- Ensure all administrative duties, including time, attendance, and employee records, are accurately completed and submitted
- Execute customer service initiatives that enhance customer experience, drive loyalty, and achieve clubcard participation targets
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including centre management, suppliers, and distribution centres
- Monitor customer trends, demographics, and competitor activities to identify and capitalise on opportunities
- Promote integration and collaboration between store operations, pharmacy, and clinic teams
- Foster a high-performance culture that supports employee engagement, customer satisfaction, and shareholder value
- Uphold and drive the company’s vision and values to remain the customer’s first choice health and beauty retailer
Education and Experience Requirements
- Grade 12 with a minimum of 50% in Mathematics and English
- Degree or Diploma in Retail Management, Finance Management, Pharmacy, or a related field (external applicants)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a store management role within a retail or FMCG environment, or successful completion of the Clicks Trainee Store Management Programme
- Proven financial management experience, including budgets, profit and loss statements, and financial ratio analysis
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of financial management principles
- Solid retail/FMCG background with merchandising and promotional expertise
- Knowledge of stock control, cost management, risk, and compliance procedures
- Customer service excellence principles
- Understanding of labour legislation and industrial relations practices
