About the Program:

The Store Manager is responsible for protecting and growing profitable market share within the store while ensuring alignment with divisional and company strategies.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with 3 years related retail management experience, or 5 years of extensive retail management experience
  • Well-developed business acumen
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license preferred
  • Own cell phone
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety standards in line with OHSA and/or relevant country legislation
  • Strong Human Resource Management skills
  • Attention to detail

Key Performance Areas:

Strategic Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage the store’s strategic plan aligned with divisional objectives

Grow and Protect Market Share

  • Achieve sales budgets, transaction growth, and market share objectives
  • Manage and promote customer loyalty programs and third-party credit
  • Develop action plans to counter competition
  • Ensure Store Business Plans are implemented and regularly updated

Customer Service

  • Oversee implementation and monitoring of customer service strategies
  • Maintain an effective delivery service according to company policy
  • Grow and maintain VIC and charge card client base
  • Recommend product range improvements tailored to the market

Asset Control

  • Manage and control store shrinkage
  • Protect cash, stock, and fixed assets
  • Manage debtors and analyze store security requirements
  • Implement and maintain physical security measures

Business Trade Licenses

  • Ensure all trade licenses are valid and renewed on time

Human Resource Management

  • Manage manpower according to company and divisional strategy
  • Ensure succession planning, career pathing, and training programs are in place
  • Maintain open communication with staff and the Store Employee Forum
  • Manage employee relations effectively

Maintaining Store Standards

  • Conduct daily floor walks and implement action plans where needed
  • Monitor company standard compliance
  • Maintain housekeeping, merchandising, and “Ready for Business” standards
  • Ensure store lighting, racking, and fixtures are in good condition

Stock Management

  • Ensure stock is ordered, received, and managed according to policy
  • Implement action plans for damaged, obsolete, slow-moving, and excess stock

Store Safety (OHSA) Standards

  • Manage safety aspects in line with local legislation
  • Complete all required safety checklists
  • Appoint OHSA representatives where applicable
  • Investigate, report, and manage OHSA incidents

Expense Management

  • Manage store expenses within budget and according to financial models and benchmarks

Insurance Claims Administration

  • Report incidents to insurers and liaise on claim particulars
  • Ensure timely submission of claim documentation

Management of CB Way

  • Implement and maintain controls and disciplines as per the CB Way
