Job Description
The Senior Training Specialist will oversee and optimise training operations across Cabin, Ground, and Technical divisions, ensuring effective delivery, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day training operations, ensuring all sessions are scheduled, resourced, and delivered according to the training plan.
  • Monitor training schedules to maintain timelines, resource efficiency, and optimal utilisation.
  • Act as the escalation point for direct reports, resolving operational challenges and ensuring continuity of training delivery.
  • Drive standardisation of training processes, documentation, and practices across all divisions to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Facilitate alignment between training teams, planning, instructors, and administrative support to ensure consistent practices and regulatory adherence.
  • Foster effective communication across divisions to optimise training execution and collaboration.
  • Identify operational gaps, recommend improvements, and implement solutions to enhance training effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Gather feedback from teams, collaborate with stakeholders, and implement process improvements to overcome barriers.
  • Document lessons learned, track recurring issues, and recommend practical enhancements to strengthen delivery and efficiency.
  • Compile weekly performance summaries, dashboards, and reports on training delivery, utilisation, completion rates, and instructor performance.
  • Provide timely updates on training progress, risks, and key performance metrics, recommending corrective actions and escalating critical issues when necessary.
  • Monitor instructor utilisation to ensure resources are optimally deployed, addressing under- or over-utilisation proactively.
  • Support the Manager: Regulatory Training with audit readiness by validating documentation flows and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Encourage and promote teamwork, assess and optimise direct report performance, and provide guidance, support, and specialised insights to develop the team.

Job Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
  • Relevant diploma/degree in Education, Aviation Management, Training, or 3 years’ aviation experience (Essential)
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a mid-sized organisation, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role (Essential)
  • Experience in SACAA audits or internal compliance reviews (Advantageous)
  • Experience with AIMS or similar aviation management systems (Advantageous)
  • Operational knowledge of aviation training structures and delivery models
  • Working knowledge of SACAA training regulations and ATO framework
  • Understanding of rostering and scheduling systems
