Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Draft, review, and assist in negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.
• Provide expert legal advice and opinions on diverse matters.
• Advise on new legislation, amendments, and regulatory changes affecting the fintech and payments sector.
• Maintain working knowledge of technology, AI, crypto, information security, corporate, tax, and consumer laws, including NCA, CPA, POPIA, and FICA.
• Facilitate dispute resolution and manage litigation processes.
• Support mergers and acquisitions activities.
• Manage and advise on intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and designs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, industry best practices, and parent-company requirements.
• Monitor and advise on pending legal changes impacting the organization.
• Apply company secretarial knowledge to support corporate governance.

Minimum Requirements:

• Undergraduate degree (BA, BAcc, BCom, or BSc).
• Post-graduate LLB.
• Additional postgraduate qualification in commerce or technology preferred.
• Completed articles at top-tier law firms.
• Admitted attorney with 4–5 years’ post-qualification experience in legal, compliance, and/or finance.

Required Knowledge / Technical Skills:

• Experience in fintech, IT, telecommunications, data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, AI, financial services, and software development.
• Expertise in contract drafting and negotiation.
• Proven advisory experience.
