About the Program
Truworths is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Finance Manager to join the Group’s finance team in Cape Town. This role offers the opportunity to lead the Group’s technical accounting function, oversee operational finance areas, and drive strategic projects. Key Responsibilities
Technical Accounting
- Lead all technical accounting matters, including implementation and oversight of new accounting standards.
- Serve on the Group Accounting Forum to oversee accounting treatment, processes, and financial statement preparation for the Group and subsidiaries.
- Oversee preparation and review of annual financial statements, ensuring IFRS compliance, technical accuracy, and timely reporting.
- Facilitate external auditor technical reviews and maintain the financial reporting control framework for CEO/CFO attestations.
Share Schemes
- Manage all share scheme accounting, reconciliations, and disclosure in Group and subsidiary financial statements.
- Prepare share scheme data for tax calculations and returns.
- Maintain accounting systems for share-based payments and calculate diluted shares in issue.
- Oversee accounting for the Group’s share scheme trust.
Funding
- Participate in funding negotiations and review agreements.
- Monitor covenant compliance and report to lenders, board, and investment committee.
- Review all related reconciliations.
Merchandise Imports
- Oversee the finance imports function, including journals, reconciliations, and monthly profit & loss/trading reports.
- Approve import clearing agent invoices and payments.
- Report on foreign exchange exposures and import VAT/duty compliance.
Merchandise Accounts Payable
- Manage merchandise accounts payable, reviewing reconciliations and ad hoc transactions.
Sundry Debtors
- Oversee the sundry debtors team, reviewing journals, reconciliations, and monitoring sundry loans, advances, and supplier development funds.
Ad Hoc/Strategic Projects
- Support delivery of strategic projects aligned with Group objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
- CA (SA) qualification.
- Minimum 10 years post-articles experience; currently at least Finance Manager level in a public listed company, ideally in retail or similar sectors.
- Extensive technical accounting and financial reporting experience in complex financial environments.
- Knowledge of credit retail is advantageous.
