Role Purpose
The Sanlam Financial Adviser provides professional financial advice, planning, and solutions to new and existing clients, aligned to their individual needs. This role focuses on acquiring sustainable business, maintaining long-term client relationships, and ensuring compliance and ethical conduct while driving the growth of the Sanlam brand.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth
- Commit to marketing plans and targets to develop the adviser business according to the distribution strategy.
- Apply market segmentation and client profiling knowledge to support sales growth.
- Achieve targets related to revenue generation (single and recurring premiums), activity quotas, and brand promotion.
- Ensure client interactions follow Treating Customers Fairly principles.
Networking, Prospecting, and Lead Generation
- Engage in face-to-face interactions to create new business opportunities.
- Prospect clients through business and social networks, associations, and presentations.
- Convert trusted relationships into business relationships and strengthen existing client connections.
- Use existing client sources to identify cross-selling opportunities within Sanlam businesses.
- Develop personalised client value propositions and implement focused campaigns.
- Leverage social media for marketing and lead generation.
- Monitor client activities such as policy maturities, cancellations, or surrenders, and act accordingly.
Client Consultations and Sales
- Conduct compliant client interactions with full disclosures and documented advice.
- Perform comprehensive fact-finding and financial needs analysis to determine clients’ financial goals and priorities.
- Provide professional financial planning advice and recommend balanced solutions.
- Present solutions in a professional manner aligned with Treating Customers Fairly.
- Use systems to capture client information and update records.
- Review client portfolios annually to ensure alignment with evolving needs.
Client Service
- Maintain ethical, courteous, and professional interactions with all clients.
- Ensure timely follow-up on client queries and escalate where necessary.
- Deliver value-added service to maintain client loyalty and prevent product switching.
- Continuously update knowledge, skills, and awareness of market developments.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships with a relational focus.
Monitoring, Reporting, and Compliance
- Track and report client interactions, appointments, consultations, and issued business.
- Update client records accurately and maintain workflow and activity logs.
- Ensure compliance with FAIS and other regulatory requirements.
Qualification and Experience
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- FAIS “Fit and Proper” requirements and regulatory examination successfully completed if registered with FSCA for more than 24 months.
