Role Purpose

The Sanlam Financial Adviser is responsible for delivering professional, relevant, and client-focused financial advice and solutions to both new and existing clients. The role focuses on generating sustainable, high-quality business aligned to set targets, while building lasting client relationships that drive loyalty, ongoing advice, and repeat business.

All activities must be conducted ethically and in full compliance with regulatory requirements, contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the Sanlam Group.

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth and Brand Development

  • Execute marketing plans and achieve sales targets aligned with the distribution strategy
  • Apply market segmentation knowledge to drive growth within the defined market
  • Achieve revenue targets, including single and recurring premiums
  • Meet activity and performance quotas
  • Promote the Sanlam brand through professional client engagements
  • Ensure Treating Customers Fairly principles are applied at all times

Networking and Lead Generation

  • Develop new business opportunities through face-to-face interactions and networking
  • Prospect new clients through business networks, social platforms, associations, and presentations
  • Convert trusted relationships into business partnerships
  • Strengthen existing client relationships by expanding service offerings
  • Leverage opportunities across Sanlam’s various business units
  • Utilise social media and personalised value propositions for marketing
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities within the middle-high and affluent markets
  • Implement focused marketing campaigns for defined target markets
  • Actively request and manage referrals and leads
  • Monitor client activities such as maturities, cancellations, and surrenders

Client Consultations and Sales

  • Conduct compliant client consultations with appropriate disclosures
  • Perform comprehensive fact-finding and financial needs analysis
  • Develop tailored financial plans aligned to client objectives
  • Present balanced portfolio solutions professionally and ethically
  • Use relevant tools and systems to capture and maintain accurate client records
  • Review client portfolios annually and update recommendations as needed

Client Service Excellence

  • Deliver ethical, courteous, and professional service at all times
  • Resolve or escalate client queries promptly
  • Provide value-added service to maintain long-term relationships
  • Commit to continuous professional development and industry learning
  • Maintain a strong relationship-focused approach to client engagement

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track and report on contacts, appointments, and consultations
  • Monitor issued business and revenue against set targets
  • Maintain accurate client records and workflow system updates
  • Submit weekly and monthly activity reports as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 qualification
  • Compliance with FAIS “Fit and Proper” requirements
  • Regulatory Examination successfully completed (if registered with the FSCA for more than 24 months)
