Job Overview
The Sales Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities and performance of Van Sales Representatives to ensure the achievement of sales targets, profitability, and market growth in line with organizational objectives. This role focuses on strengthening customer relationships, improving team performance through coaching, and implementing effective strategies to grow the customer base and increase market share.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage the performance of Van Sales Representatives to ensure sales targets and operational goals are achieved.
- Lead and promote a strong customer-focused sales culture within the team.
- Conduct daily gate meetings before market activities to review priorities and operational plans.
- Focus meeting discussions on month-to-date performance, execution standards, and discipline-related KPIs.
- Provide continuous coaching and mentoring to enhance the sales capability and performance of the team.
- Conduct in-market coaching sessions with Van Sales Representatives to strengthen selling techniques and customer engagement.
- Ensure a 100% outlet visit rate across assigned sales routes.
- Conduct individual customer visits in the market to address issues and strengthen customer relationships.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business development and expansion of the customer base.
- Attend meetings and provide updates on sales performance and operational activities when required.
- Develop and implement internal and external business development strategies to drive growth and increase market share.
- Align sales activities with changing business strategies and market conditions.
- Conduct regular training sessions with the training team to strengthen critical sales and business skills.
- Perform performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Qualifications
- A three-year tertiary qualification in Business, Commerce, or an equivalent field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in an FMCG environment, including at least one year in a direct sales or selling role.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Results-driven with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to use insights to drive sales growth.
- Effective planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and develop sales opportunities.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and with impact.
- Ability to analyze sales reports and apply insights to support business growth.
