Job Overview
The Sales Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the performance and daily activities of Van Sales Representatives to ensure the achievement of sales targets, profitability, and market growth. This role focuses on building a strong customer-focused sales culture, improving team capabilities through coaching, and driving business development initiatives to expand the customer base and increase market share.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership and Performance Management
- Supervise and guide Van Sales Representatives to achieve sales targets and maximize profitability.
- Lead and promote a strong customer-focused sales culture across the sales team.
- Conduct daily gate meetings before market operations to review performance and priorities.
- Set meeting agendas focusing on month-to-date performance, execution standards, and discipline-related KPIs.
- Provide continuous coaching and mentoring to improve the sales capabilities and overall performance of team members.
- Conduct in-market coaching sessions with Van Sales Representatives to strengthen selling skills and customer engagement.
- Ensure a 100% outlet visit rate within assigned sales routes.
Customer Engagement and Business Development
- Conduct joint in-market visits with customers to address operational issues and strengthen relationships.
- Identify new sales opportunities and contribute to the expansion of the customer base.
- Develop and implement internal and external business development strategies to support growth and increase market share.
- Align sales team activities with changing market conditions and strategic business priorities.
Training and Development
- Coordinate and conduct training sessions with the training team to strengthen essential business and sales skills.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to sales team members.
Operational and Strategic Support
- Attend and contribute to sales and operational meetings when required.
- Monitor sales data, analyze reports, and apply insights to improve sales performance and drive volume growth.
- Ensure effective planning, organization, and execution of sales activities within the assigned territory.
Qualifications
- A 3-year Business or Commercial tertiary qualification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an FMCG environment, including at least 1 year in a direct selling role.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong customer relationship management skills.
- Results-oriented with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and apply insights to drive growth.
- Effective planning and organizational abilities.
- Ability to identify sales opportunities and implement growth strategies.
- Strong influencing, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and confidently to achieve business objectives.
