Sales Representative – Purpose of the Role

The Sales Representative is responsible for identifying, recruiting, growing, and retaining key customers in the Free State region, including spaza shops, forecourts, and wholesalers. The role focuses on building strategic relationships, driving sales and margin growth, and managing debtors effectively to support sustainable business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit new customers within the assigned region, meeting monthly and quarterly acquisition targets
  • Maintain and expand the existing customer base to achieve or exceed sales volume and margin objectives
  • Build and nurture strong customer relationships, ensuring regular engagement and high satisfaction
  • Manage customer credit to maintain debtor days within agreed limits and ensure on-time payments
  • Conduct regular customer calls, including order-taking and introducing new product lines
  • Monitor, record, and report customer feedback to management for continuous improvement
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, resolving queries within agreed turnaround times
  • Execute business strategies such as marketing campaigns and promotional activities, tracking performance against objectives

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales role within the FMCG sector
  • Proven track record of success as a sales representative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and mobile sales tools
