Purpose of the Role
The Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying, recruiting, growing, and retaining key customers within the Free State region, ranging from spaza shops to forecourts and wholesalers. This role focuses on building strong strategic relationships, driving sustainable sales and margin growth, and effectively managing debtor accounts to ensure financial performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition and Growth
- Identify and recruit new customers within the assigned region in line with agreed monthly and quarterly targets.
- Maintain and expand the existing customer base to achieve or exceed sales volume and margin objectives.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-term customer relationships through consistent engagement and professional service.
- Conduct regular customer visits, including order taking and presenting new product offerings.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Credit and Debtor Management
- Monitor and manage customer credit accounts to keep debtor days within agreed limits.
- Drive on-time payments and maintain healthy account balances.
Sales Execution and Reporting
- Implement sales and marketing strategies, including promotional campaigns and business initiatives.
- Track and report campaign performance against set objectives.
- Record and communicate customer feedback to management to support continuous improvement.
- Deliver exceptional service and resolve customer queries within agreed turnaround times.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales role within the FMCG sector.
- Proven track record as a successful Sales Representative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel extensively.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, MS Office, and mobile sales tools.
