About the Role
The Sales Coordinator is responsible for driving sales through direct customer interaction, preparing accurate quotations from building plans, and ensuring high standards of merchandising, housekeeping, and delivery efficiency. This role focuses on supporting the store’s sales objectives while maintaining exceptional customer service.
Requirements
- Grade 12 with 5 years of related experience, or 10 years’ relevant work experience
- Experience in reading building plans is advantageous
- Effective communication skills in English and the dominant local language
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Proven customer service excellence
- Ability to work under pressure
- Computer literacy
- Strong planning, organization, and delegation skills
Key Performance Areas
Sales
- Prepare and follow up on quotations to generate sales
- Manage special order quote processes and controls
- Review building plans to ensure accurate quotations within agreed timeframes
- Handle telephone queries and follow-ups efficiently
- Conduct competitor analysis to maintain store competitiveness
- Communicate bulk deposit transfers to customers
- Promote customer loyalty programs, including VIC and Charge Card initiatives
Deliveries
- Manage and coordinate a cost-effective and timely delivery service
- Ensure all deliveries are dispatched within required timeframes
- Communicate delays to customers and arrange alternative solutions
Customer Service
- Manage the Customer Service Desk efficiently
- Record, follow up, and resolve customer complaints
- Ensure all customers are attended to promptly
- Maintain professional telephone etiquette
Store Standards
- Oversee Ready for Business checklists for assigned area and supervise General Assistants, Sales Advisors, and Forklift Drivers
- Implement price changes according to advertised prices
- Ensure planograms are correctly implemented
People Management
- Ensure staff are present and performing duties within their areas of responsibility
- Ensure trained backups are available for all team members
- Monitor daily execution of tasks, including Ready for Business procedures
Safety (OHSA) Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all safety standards
- Verify that all employees wear appropriate protective clothing and use equipment safely
Security Awareness
- Monitor for suspicious activity within and around the store
- Maintain password security and other operational safeguards
