Role Purpose

The Retail Branch Manager is responsible for growing the customer base and revenue of Sanlam Retail Mass by developing and executing the branch strategy. This role leads the branch team, drives sales and service excellence, ensures compliance, and fosters a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop and execute the branch strategy to achieve growth and revenue targets.
  • Guide, integrate, and standardise the activities and goals of Sales Consultants within the branch.
  • Lead a service-oriented culture to ensure an optimal client experience.
  • Oversee day-to-day branch operations, including business planning and operational management.

Sales and Service Delivery

  • Drive retail branch sales and ensure the achievement of targets.
  • Establish and maintain a high-quality client service culture within the branch.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, compliance, and quality standards.
  • Identify risks and ensure effective mitigation measures are in place.

People and Performance Management

  • Manage all operational people practices for direct reports, including talent management, performance management, individual development, grievance resolution, leave allocation, and capacity management in collaboration with HR.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop the branch team to achieve business goals.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Identify and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including Area Managers, business owners, activation sites, and community forums.
  • Implement engagement strategies to strengthen business and community relationships.

Reporting and Planning

  • Conduct monthly planning and reporting on sales, service activities, and branch performance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting using relevant technology platforms.

Education and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE1 and RE5 accredited
  • 120 Wealth Management credits or a tertiary qualification recognised by the FSCA
  • Class of Business accreditation (annual)
  • Compliance with current and past CPD cycles
  • Minimum of 5 years’ recent industry experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Service management, insurance sales, and credit/lending experience required
