Role Overview

The Regional Internal Auditor is responsible for performing operational and compliance audits across assigned regions, ensuring adherence to Pick n Pay Clothing standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. This field-based role provides independent assurance, identifies risk exposure, and supports continuous improvement across the retail network.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Internal Auditing, Risk Management, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ audit experience with a strong focus on operational compliance.
  • Retail industry experience.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience using digital audit tools and applying data analysis techniques.
  • Strong understanding of retail loss prevention practices and performance metrics.
  • Knowledge of retail regulatory requirements, including FICA, POPIA, and OHS.
  • Comfortable working with platforms such as Yoobic, Power BI, or similar tools.

Key Responsibilities

Auditing & Compliance Monitoring

  • Conduct planned and unannounced audits using standardised digital audit tools.
  • Assess compliance across stock management, cash handling, safety, and loss prevention controls.
  • Apply risk-based sampling techniques to ensure effective and efficient audits.

Collaboration with Area Management

  • Work closely with Area Managers to address non-compliance and agree on corrective action plans.
  • Support Store Managers with practical guidance to improve compliance standards.
  • Provide real-time coaching during audit visits to reinforce understanding and accountability.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Compile comprehensive audit reports outlining findings, risk ratings, and recommendations.
  • Track recurring issues within the region using centralised reporting systems.
  • Contribute to regional risk heat maps, trend analysis, and management insights.

Training & Support

  • Deliver on-site compliance coaching and awareness during store visits.
  • Support Area Managers in embedding a strong compliance culture.
  • Share best practices and improvement initiatives across regions.

Follow-Up & Verification

  • Monitor and track the resolution of audit findings within agreed timelines.
  • Verify closure of corrective actions through documented evidence.
  • Escalate repeat, unresolved, or high-risk issues to leadership with clear supporting information.
