Job Purpose
The QC Inspector is responsible for performing quality control inspections across aircraft interiors, exteriors, parts, and tooling to ensure compliance with aviation standards and Flysafair procedures. This role supports operational safety, audits, and continuous improvement within the organisation’s maintenance and quality assurance functions.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control & Inspections
- Conduct quality control inspections on aircraft, components, and maintenance tooling.
- Prepare aircraft for C of A inspections and oversee QC product compliance for domestic, regional, and international aircraft.
- Perform random inspections during daily turnarounds, with focus on adherence to procedures and maintenance instructions.
- Sample maintenance documentation for accuracy and completion, including work packs, ATLRs, CRS, and CRMA.
- Carry out inspections during ‘A’ and higher checks, working closely with maintenance staff to ensure compliance with all maintenance instructions.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Identify gaps in departmental quality control processes and recommend improvements.
- Assist in authorising and issuing company approvals for technical and flight engineers.
- Support the QA Manager in chairing meetings and attending relevant operational, compliance, and safety meetings.
- Assist with investigations into operational occurrences and incidents.
- Contribute to the development and amendment of procedures, including the Manual of Procedures, Quality Assurance Manual, and work instructions.
- Issue and control AMO certification approvals.
Reporting & Coordination
- Compile monthly reports on QC activities across the organisation.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineers License (current or expired).
- Degree or diploma in Quality Management is advantageous.
- Safety Management Systems training is advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in aviation maintenance.
- Exposure to quality control functions within aviation.
- Experience with aircraft incident and accident investigations is advantageous.
- IOSA Auditor training experience is advantageous.
- Strong product knowledge, preferably licensed or previously licensed on Boeing 737 aircraft and associated engines.
- Understanding of SACAA regulations (Part 21, 43, 64, 66, 91, 121, 140, 141, 145, 187) and related technical standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Attention to detail, deadline-driven, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
