Job Description
As a Production Planner at FlySafair, you will ensure the efficient scheduling and coordination of aircraft maintenance activities, supporting operational excellence and timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimate maintenance downtime for scheduled maintenance checks.
• Coordinate post-mortem meetings with Production Control to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Materials Planning to ensure all required spares are available before scheduled checks.
• Work with Maintenance Planners to verify accuracy of work packages and address any anomalies.
• Facilitate pre-check survey meetings with Production Control to align all departments with upcoming maintenance requirements.
• Develop and manage long-term hangar planning in coordination with Maintenance Planning.
• Create and maintain Gantt plans and production schedules for maintenance events and modification projects.
• Liaise with maintenance, engineering, procurement, and quality assurance teams to ensure timely availability of labor, parts, and documentation.
• Review work packages and engineering documents for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance; initiate corrections where required.
• Ensure timely compilation and delivery of work orders to MRO.
• Monitor maintenance progress within Heavy Maintenance Hangars and adjust schedules to mitigate delays or resource conflicts.
• Follow up on open tasks or work orders with Maintenance Planning.
• Track parts shortages, support procurement activities, and escalate supply chain issues promptly.
• Generate production reports in collaboration with Production Control and provide updates to stakeholders.
• Participate in production meetings and provide status updates on planning milestones.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives for production efficiency and planning systems.
• Coordinate post-mortem meetings to identify improvements and address shortfalls after maintenance events.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant regulations, policies, and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations and organizational procedures; report non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
• Analyse stakeholder needs and identify initiatives to improve planning processes.
• Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with Maintenance Planning regarding scheduling and required downtime.

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
• Technical Diploma (Advantageous)
• Technical trade in aviation (Advantageous)
• Qualification in project planning and management (Advantageous)
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in aircraft planning, production control, or aircraft maintenance (Essential)
• Experience in project planning and management (Advantageous)
• Experience with technical maintenance systems/MRO software (Advantageous)
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; able to work overtime
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Knowledge of aircraft documentation, including MPD, Boeing-issued or OEM documentation (Essential)
• Working knowledge of aviation regulations
