Role Purpose
PepsiCo Vacancies is seeking an experienced Procurement Category Flexibles Lead to drive strategic sourcing, cost optimization, supplier performance, and value creation across the Flexible Packaging category. This role provides technical and commercial leadership, ensuring competitive advantage, productivity delivery, and effective risk management aligned to global and regional procurement strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Value Delivery
- Design and implement global technical platforms and supplier competitive tension tools to enhance value across operating units.
- Lead evaluation and approval of all Flexible Film RFPs, applying smart bidding strategies and category levers to achieve lowest total cost of ownership.
- Develop and execute end-to-end category sourcing strategies for Flexible Packaging.
- Deliver year-on-year productivity targets and sustainable P&L savings through value engineering initiatives.
Commercial & Risk Management
- Establish and govern commodity value analysis, pricing mechanisms, and commodity splits to enable effective cost and risk management.
- Lead and deploy commodity risk management buy plans and playbooks across the ingredients and flexible film portfolio.
- Act as a key enabler to Legal by supporting optimal contract terms, contract preparation, and execution processes.
Supplier Leadership & Development
- Provide technical and commercial leadership to the South African supplier base, driving performance improvement and innovation.
- Lead supplier selection, negotiation, and sourcing plan development in line with procurement strategy.
- Manage supplier relationships through quarterly scorecard reviews with key stakeholders.
- Lead dispute resolution related to supply continuity, quality, invoicing, and payments.
- Drive supplier diversity programs, including strategy development, prioritization, due diligence, and participation in supplier engagement initiatives.
Projects & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Own and govern critical procurement activities to ensure on-time execution of transformational projects.
- Identify and implement productivity initiatives in collaboration with sector procurement and cross-functional teams.
- Coordinate multi-functional stakeholders to support new product development, regional sourcing needs, and regulatory and sustainability compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 13 years’ strategic sourcing experience in Flexible Packaging within a global organization.
- At least 6 years in a senior management role with spend accountability of $50 million or more.
- Proven track record delivering minimum 5% year-on-year productivity within the Flexible Film category.
- Demonstrated leadership in accelerated value engineering programs with pipeline value exceeding $10 million annually.
Technical Expertise
- Subject matter expert in flexible film structures including PP, PE, PET, and OPP, with strong understanding of microns, GSM, and total cost optimization.
- Deep knowledge of upstream film sourcing models, conversion technologies, and printing technologies.
- Proven capability in business continuity planning specific to Flexible Films, including alternate and substitute development.
