Purpose of Job
Supervise all aspects of shift and plant operations to ensure performance targets are met while adhering to safety policies. Oversee housekeeping and identify workplace hazards to guarantee mining operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Key Accountabilities

• Ensure work is completed on time and meets quantity and quality standards.
• Conduct shift and daily equipment inspections.
• Monitor and control costs and budgets effectively.
• Plan, organize, lead, and control operations (POLC).
• Optimize and manage resources efficiently.
• Maintain general housekeeping and site cleanliness.
• Handle rods, mix cement and betonies, and manage spares orders.
• Assist the driller in the control room and with plotting/updating drilling and geology maps.
• Operate machinery, including tripping in and out of holes.
• Serve as Senior Drilling Assistant and take over driller responsibilities when required.
• Support the drilling superintendent and assume duties when necessary.
• Establish and rehabilitate sites.
• Inspect service provider rigs and write month-end reports.
• Manage team members and achieve safety and risk objectives.
• Comply with legal and SHE requirements and specific KPIs.
• Understand and embody company vision and values.
• Continuously improve personal skills and knowledge.
• Plan, organize, control, and report own work.
• Apply and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and methods.
• Solve problems and make decisions effectively.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships to understand and meet mine needs.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, managers, and peers.
• Ensure smooth shift handovers and continuous work improvement.
• Share and implement innovative ideas to improve operations.

Formal Education

• BTech University/Bachelor’s Degree (South Africa)
• Higher/Advanced Diploma (South Africa)
• Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency
• Blasting Certificate

Working Experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant mining experience

• Technical: Analyse alternatives, recommend solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, optimize mining equipment efficiency, SHE policies, risk management
• Leadership & Collaboration: Build talent, inspire teams, collaborate effectively, develop self, drive innovation, delivery excellence
