Job Purpose
The Manager: Talent Acquisition is responsible for developing and executing proactive talent acquisition strategies to attract, recruit, and retain top talent. This role ensures efficient end-to-end recruitment processes, strong employer branding, effective team leadership, and full compliance with labour legislation while supporting business objectives through data-driven insights and workforce planning.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition Strategy & Employer Branding
- Develop and implement proactive talent acquisition strategies to build a sustainable talent pipeline.
- Strengthen the employer brand through innovative recruitment practices, market engagement, and networking.
- Build and maintain professional networks with HR professionals, recruitment partners, and suppliers.
- Research, evaluate, and implement new sourcing and advertising channels to meet recruitment demands.
Recruitment Operations & Process Management
- Manage the full end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for assigned roles.
- Design role-specific interview questions, conduct interviews, and shortlist suitable candidates.
- Drive adherence to the requisition workflow and recruitment policies.
- Ensure the Applicant Tracking System is accurately maintained and fully utilised.
- Oversee and manage various job portals to optimise sourcing effectiveness.
- Act as custodian of the Recruitment Policy and related practices.
Data, Reporting & Compliance
- Monitor, analyse, and report on recruitment metrics and talent acquisition performance.
- Use data analytics to minimise time-to-fill and costs associated with vacant positions.
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and documentation in line with legal requirements.
- Ensure all recruitment activities comply with employment legislation and best practices.
- Provide management with decision support through talent acquisition and HR metrics.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead, manage, and develop the Talent Acquisition team, setting clear goals aligned to business needs.
- Motivate and encourage teamwork to ensure productivity and service excellence.
- Oversee the allocation and utilisation of Roaming Administrators for short-term operational support.
- Liaise closely with hiring managers, HR, payroll, and suppliers to ensure seamless recruitment processes.
- Advise hiring managers on effective interviewing techniques and recruitment best practices.
Budgeting & Vendor Management
- Manage the talent acquisition budget, including forecasting and cost control.
- Review and approve recruitment-related invoices for submission to Finance.
- Manage service-level agreements with recruitment suppliers and partners.
Workforce Planning & Market Benchmarking
- Anticipate future recruitment needs in collaboration with management.
- Conduct market research and salary benchmarking to support competitive hiring decisions.
- Stay current with labour legislation and drive awareness across the team and line management.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Relevant Degree in Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a mid-sized organisation, including at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Proven experience as a Recruitment or Talent Acquisition Manager.
- Hands-on experience with career portals such as Pnet and LinkedIn.
- Strong experience working with Applicant Tracking Systems.
- Experience with HR Information Systems such as Sage or Sage X3 is advantageous.
- Sound knowledge of Human Resources, management practices, and labour legislation, including BCEA, EEA, SDA, and Codes of Good Practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and recruitment software.
- Advanced Excel skills are essential.
