Role Overview – Maintenance Assistant
The Maintenance Assistant supports maintenance operations by assisting artisans with planned and preventive maintenance, as well as responding to equipment breakdowns. This role involves performing routine inspections, basic repairs, housekeeping duties, and providing administrative support to ensure smooth maintenance processes.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance Support
- Assist artisans with scheduled maintenance, preventive maintenance, and breakdown repairs
- Inspect tools and equipment at the start and end of each shift to ensure safe and proper functionality
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as greasing bearings, cleaning panels, and maintaining machinery
- Complete assigned maintenance activities efficiently and accurately
- Participate in call-outs alongside artisans when required
- Provide timely feedback to the Maintenance Planner or Manager regarding equipment and site conditions
- Support inventory control and maintenance-related administrative tasks
Housekeeping
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment before and after tasks
- Ensure the workshop and surrounding areas are kept clean and organized at all times
Safety and Compliance
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly at all times
- Adhere to all health, safety, and food safety standards
- Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and report any hazards immediately
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- N2 qualification or higher will be an added advantage
