About the Program
The Laboratory Intern will support laboratory operations by assisting with data collection, equipment calibration, and routine analysis to ensure product quality and compliance with safety standards. This role provides hands-on experience in quality testing, troubleshooting, and laboratory project management.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate data collation on shift and report process statistics accurately.
• Perform routine analytical and product quality tests, including In Market Testing.
• Investigate out-of-specification results and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot to identify potential causes of quality issues and improve data accuracy.
• Provide feedback to frontline teams regarding results and corrective opportunities.
• Ensure timely completion and communication of all laboratory reports.
• Conduct allergen swabbing and support management of foreign objects and customer complaints.
• Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliable performance.
• Manage stock requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
• Audit laboratory documentation and analyze data for quality improvements.
• Participate in laboratory-specific projects and initiatives to enhance quality systems.
• Monitor HACCP compliance and maintain AIB, food safety, and quality standards.
• Manage on-hold, rejected, and released stock in coordination with quality protocols.
• Conduct internal ASHA Lab audits and assist in preparation for external audits.
• Provide support during FSSC 22000 and AIB audits, as well as trials, commissioning, or new projects.

Qualifications & Competencies

• Matric certificate plus a Diploma in Food Technology or equivalent tertiary qualification.
• Computer literacy and proficiency in data handling.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures accurately.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to quality improvement projects.
