Job Description
As a Junior First Officer at FlySafair, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of flights. Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct flights safely and efficiently, adhering to all operational procedures.
• Monitor aircraft systems, flight path, and performance throughout all phases of flight.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft according to company standards and aviation regulations.
• Maintain compliance with SACAA, ICAO, and company policies.
• Identify safety threats and collaborate with the Captain and Operations to resolve them.
• Assume command in the event of Captain incapacitation.
• Support the Captain in operational, administrative, and crew management duties.
• Ensure accurate submission of all documentation, reports, and checklists.
• Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and appearance as a representative of FlySafair.
• Stay updated on relevant aviation laws, procedures, and company operations manuals.
• Assist in decision-making for fuel selection, flight alternates, and restrictions.
• Execute all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists accurately.
• Conduct R/T communications as required.
• Support continuous improvement in crew expertise, morale, and operational standards.

Job Requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential)
• Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential)
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
• Boeing type-rated (Advantageous)
• Minimum of 1000 total flying hours with at least:
  • 500 Twin Turbine hours (<10,000kg) OR
  • Boeing/Airbus Type Rated including Level D simulator time OR
  • 250 Jet/Turbine hours (>10,000kg)
• Willingness to sign applicable training bond(s)
• No criminal record
• Own transport and valid RSA Driver’s License
• South African Citizen with proof of ID
• Valid RSA Passport
• Willingness to work irregular hours on a roster
• Detailed knowledge of SACAA, ICAO regulations, and Doc 8168
• Understanding of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot licensing content
• Language proficiency Level 6
