IT Coordinator – Spar Vacancies
Purpose of the Position
The IT Coordinator is responsible for delivering efficient and reliable support services for IT systems and processes across the business. This role ensures smooth day-to-day IT operations, supports end-users, and acts as the key liaison between external IT service providers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
IT Support & Infrastructure
- Provide desktop support and maintain country DC network infrastructure
- Assess and resolve IT queries, escalating where necessary to ensure timely and cost-effective solutions
- Monitor support trends and ensure service tickets are resolved within agreed timelines
- Collaborate with desktop support management to assist Central Office and Distribution Centres
- Supervise, train, and mentor IT Assistants
Store Systems & Network Support
- Support Store POS systems and network infrastructure
- Maintain network integrity by escalating technical issues to relevant stakeholders
- Manage approved devices connected to store networks
- Control and maintain the network whitelist for approved websites
Stakeholder Coordination
- Liaise with IT Desktop Support teams to address all IT-related requirements
- Communicate solutions, updates, and next steps clearly to stakeholders
- Ensure effective coordination of IT support activities across departments
Distribution Centre (DC) Support
- Coordinate resolution of power and network connectivity issues
- Monitor network performance and implement improvements where required
- Oversee installation, delivery, and maintenance of server and network equipment
Procurement & Asset Management
- Manage end-to-end procurement of IT hardware and selected software applications
- Evaluate system requirements and ensure compatibility within the business environment
- Build and maintain supplier relationships to secure competitive pricing
- Negotiate with vendors and ensure budget approvals are obtained
- Track expenditure against budgets and process invoices for payment
- Coordinate delivery of IT equipment to various locations via the distribution centre
IT Asset & Software Control
- Manage the full lifecycle of IT equipment, including movement and tracking
- Maintain accurate stock control records
- Oversee software usage and licensing compliance
Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
- Provide continuous updates and feedback until issues are fully resolved
Reporting & Monitoring
- Use reporting tools to monitor data usage and system performance
- Identify anomalies and take proactive steps to safeguard business operations
System & Workspace Support
- Provide support and maintenance for internal systems, including AMS
- Assist users with workspace tools such as Google and Microsoft platforms
Project Coordination
- Support the implementation of IT projects across Central Office and Distribution Centres
- Monitor project risks and issues, ensuring timely communication and escalation
- Assist with additional projects and ad hoc tasks as required
Budget & Cost Control
- Ensure effective utilization of IT budgets within the financial year
- Monitor spending and maintain compliance with budget allocations
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 qualification
- Relevant Advanced Diploma in IT or related field
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT systems support
- Retail industry experience will be advantageous
- Strong understanding of IT systems and processes
- Advanced computer literacy
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service orientation
- South African citizenship required
