About the Program

Main Purpose of the Role
The HTS Counselor is responsible for providing HIV counseling and testing services to clients at the Ivan Toms Centre and its mobile units. This role also supports the Mobile Team Coordinator and Professional Nurse in implementing community-based outreach and support activities.

Key Performance Areas

Client Engagement, Education, and Linkage

• Conduct appointment reminders and follow-ups as directed by the Professional Nurse or Mobile Team Coordinator.
• Participate in venue-based and digital outreach to identify and link clients to facility and mobile services.
• Provide education and awareness to potential clients and the public regarding available HIV and health services.

Counseling and Client Support Services

• Conduct risk assessments and other project-specific services such as index testing and EPOA.
• Provide HIV testing and counseling for MSM and other clients at the Ivan Toms Centre and mobile units.
• Ensure all HTS services comply with National Department of Health guidelines and organizational protocols.
• Offer counseling, health education, and support for clients initiating or continuing ART and PrEP.
• Distribute relevant commodities to clients and outreach venues.
• Collaborate with the Professional Nurse and Mobile Team Coordinator to facilitate additional client services.

Administrative and Data Support

• Ensure availability of HTS stock and supplies for service delivery.
• Follow waste management and infection control protocols.
• Complete all reporting and clinical documentation for HTS, PrEP, ART, index testing, EPOA, and client contact confirmations.
• Support data entry, cleaning, and other administrative tasks as required.
• Assist with additional administrative or operational activities as requested by relevant stakeholders.
