Purpose of the Role
The Head Operational Excellence leads strategic initiatives to enhance the performance, maturity, and efficiency of operational and engineering processes in chemical manufacturing. This role drives a culture of continuous improvement, standardizes processes, and leverages digital and automation solutions to optimize business performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Operational Excellence initiatives to improve operational and engineering process performance and maturity.
• Develop and implement plans to foster a culture of continuous improvement across Operations.
• Simplify, optimize, and standardize existing operational, engineering, and project execution processes.
• Identify opportunities to digitize and automate processes in collaboration with Digital Business Solutions.
• Build and maintain constructive relationships across functions to maximize optimization potential.
• Implement and manage change processes to support Operational Excellence initiatives.
• Embed sustainability principles across Sasol International Chemicals’ value chains.
• Lead, coach, and manage direct reports, ensuring strong succession planning for key positions.
• Break down silos between departments, including Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Project Management, and SHE.
• Standardize business processes and establish clear roles, responsibilities, and interfaces with other Sasol functions.
• Develop and implement common tools and systems to ensure consistent execution across Operations.

Education Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Systems Engineering, or related field

Experience Requirement

• 10+ years in Operational Excellence or related roles, with experience in project and portfolio management in the oil, gas, or specialty petrochemical industries
• Minimum of 5 years in senior leadership roles within operations or engineering divisions in chemicals or energy organizations

Travel Requirement

• Up to 20% domestic travel
