PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The General Manager will lead and manage the full retail operations of PEP in Mozambique, driving sustainable growth by increasing sales and profitability while ensuring strong alignment with the PEP Africa strategy and the centralised business model.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate company strategy into clear tactical and operational plans for PEP Mozambique, ensuring disciplined execution
• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and country legislation applicable to retail operations in Mozambique
• Build and maintain effective relationships with governmental and legal entities
• Provide overall leadership of the business, including the country head office, retail outlets, and distribution centre
• Lead and develop functional leaders, and collaborate with the Executive team in South Africa to ensure all functions perform to required standards
• Drive sales performance to achieve and exceed targets in partnership with functional and operational teams
• Manage the total cost of doing business through effective budgeting and cost control
• Mitigate operational and financial risks, including stock loss prevention and shrinkage management
• Drive overall profitability and long-term sustainability of the business in Mozambique
• Embed company values and strengthen cross-border stakeholder relationships to build a strong organisational culture
• Lead and contribute to ad hoc strategic and operational projects as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum of 5 years’ retail experience at middle to senior management level, preferably within an African retail environment
• Fully bilingual in English and Portuguese
• Advanced communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Advanced computer literacy, including Office software, Google Workspace, and business systems
• Strong commercial and business acumen with sound financial management expertise
• Proven change leadership capabilities in complex and diverse environments
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills at senior leadership level
• Willingness to travel extensively within and outside Mozambique
