About the Program:

The General Assistant ensures excellent customer service, effective merchandising, accurate shelf price labelling, and maintains housekeeping standards within their designated area of responsibility.

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with 1 year work-related experience, or Grade 12 without experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Valid South African ID or work permit
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas:

Customer Service

• Advise and assist customers on products and queries
• Assist in resolving customer complaints efficiently

Merchandising Standards

• Ensure bulk stock areas are merchandised safely and according to store layout
• Maintain full merchandising in your area per store planograms

Housekeeping

• Keep your area free of obstacles and ensure stock is merchandised promptly
• Maintain safe customer access to aisles
• Ensure correct shelf price labelling
• Complete checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules as required

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

• Follow safety protocols, including use of protective gear
• Ensure stock and racking in your area are safe for customers and colleagues
• Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

• Report damaged stock in your area to the Store Manager
