About the Program:

The General Assistant is responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining merchandising standards, accurate shelf price labelling, and ensuring housekeeping within the designated area of the store.

Requirements:

• Minimum Grade 10 (NQF 3) with 1 year of work-related experience, or Grade 12 without experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Valid South African ID or work permit
• Basic mathematical skills
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas:

Customer Service

• Advise and assist customers on correct products and queries
• Support in resolving customer complaints

Merchandising Standards

• Ensure bulk stock is merchandised safely according to store layout
• Maintain full merchandising of your area per planograms

Housekeeping

• Keep the area free of obstacles and ensure stock is promptly merchandised
• Ensure safe customer access to aisles
• Maintain correct shelf price labelling
• Complete checklists for canteen and toilet/shower schedules as required

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

• Adhere to safety protocols and use of protective gear
• Ensure racking and bulk stock in your area are safe for colleagues and customers
• Report safety discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Management

• Report damaged stock within your area to the Store Manager
