Forklift Technician – Value Logistics

About the Role
Value Logistics is seeking a skilled Forklift Technician to perform maintenance, repairs, and assembly of forklift components. This role involves inspecting forklifts for defects, stripping and cleaning parts, assembling components, and ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently according to OE specifications.

The Forklift Technician will support workshop productivity, guide junior staff, and maintain high standards of safety and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities

Vehicle Inspection & Repairs

• Evaluate forklifts for general defects before starting repairs
• Compile technical reports outlining required repairs
• List spare parts needed for each repair
• Strip components from forklifts and assess for wear and damage
• Assemble stripped components using new or reconditioned parts
• Identify system failures, consult with team leaders or workshop foremen, and document findings on job cards
• Record all tasks performed, parts used, and time spent on each job
• Service and repair forklifts to original equipment (OE) specifications and schedules

Operational Support & Supervision

• Perform standby and after-hour breakdown duties as required
• Maintain productivity and efficiency levels in the workshop
• Monitor, train, and guide repair shop assistants and semi-skilled artisans
• Report unsafe working conditions or faulty equipment to supervisors
• Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures

General Responsibilities

• Assist with relevant operational and workshop functions
• Maintain professional conduct and follow company dress code
• Keep workshop, tools, and workstations clean and organised
• Adhere to Health and Safety standards at all times

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric)
• Red Seal Qualification
• 2+ years of relevant forklift or heavy equipment repair experience advantageous

Skills & Competencies

• Strong mechanical and technical skills for forklift maintenance and repairs
• Ability to work independently and follow Standard Operating Procedures
• Supervisory and training capability for guiding junior staff
• Attention to detail, safety awareness, and organisational skills
