Purpose of the Job
The Forecourt Sales Representative is responsible for driving sales growth within petrol station forecourts and convenience retail outlets. This role focuses on managing high-volume accounts, ensuring consistent product availability, and strengthening relationships with site managers and staff. The position requires strong knowledge of forecourt operations, fast-moving consumer goods, and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, high-turnover environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow sales within forecourt and convenience retail accounts, with a strong focus on beverage and snack categories
- Manage and promote private label product ranges within the forecourt channel
- Deliver high-frequency service to maintain optimal stock levels and merchandising standards
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with forecourt managers and on-site staff
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate replenishment to prevent out-of-stock situations
- Execute promotional activities, manage promotional catalogues, and ensure effective point-of-sale execution
- Track SKU performance, particularly fast-moving products, and recommend range and assortment improvements
- Analyse and share insights into consumer purchasing behaviour within the forecourt environment
- Conduct customer visits according to assigned route plans, prioritising forecourts and adhering to required delivery timelines
- Support credit control processes and reconcile on-site transactions and payments
- Compile and submit detailed activity and performance reports specific to the forecourt channel
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 5 to 10 years of relevant sales experience, including a minimum of 3 years within forecourt or convenience retail sales
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Proven record of achieving sales targets over the past 12 months
