Purpose of the Role
The Forecourt Sales Representative is responsible for managing and expanding sales within petrol station forecourts and convenience retail outlets. The role requires a strong understanding of forecourt operations, effective relationship management, and the ability to operate in fast-paced environments with high product turnover. The Forecourt Sales Representative focuses on ensuring product availability, strengthening customer relationships, and driving sales performance within the forecourt channel.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and grow customer accounts within the forecourt and convenience retail sector, particularly within beverage and snack categories
• Manage and support private label product sales within assigned accounts
• Provide frequent customer service visits to ensure product availability and maintain merchandising standards
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with site managers and forecourt staff
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely replenishment to prevent stock shortages
• Manage promotional activities, including receiving promotion catalogues and executing sales according to promotional campaigns
• Ensure effective point-of-sale display and execution at forecourt locations
• Track performance of key stock keeping units, especially fast-moving products, and recommend improvements to product assortment
• Provide insights on consumer purchasing behaviour within the forecourt environment
• Conduct regular visits based on route plans, prioritising forecourt locations and ensuring strict adherence to delivery schedules
• Assist with credit control processes and reconcile on-site transactions and payments
• Compile and present detailed reports related to forecourt sales performance and activities
Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12 (Matric)
• 5 to 10 years of related sales experience
• At least 3 years of experience in forecourt or convenience retail sales
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proven sales performance over the past 12 months
