About the Role:
FlySafair is seeking a highly skilled and professional First Officer to join our flight operations team. The First Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all flights while upholding the highest standards of customer service and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

Operations:

• Ensure the safety of flight at all times.
• Monitor aircraft systems and flight path continuously.
• Perform pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate effectively with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft in compliance with regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate and complete legal and administrative documentation.
• Assume command of the aircraft if the Captain becomes incapacitated.
• Stay current with SACAA, ICAO, and company Operations Manual requirements.
• Support the Captain in operational and administrative duties.
• Assist in maintaining crew discipline, professional conduct, and appearance.
• Follow FlySafair Standard Operating Procedures for all flight-related duties.
• Provide advice and assistance to the Captain to ensure safe and efficient flights.
• Maintain high standards of personal discipline, conduct, and appearance.

Pre-Flight Duties:

• Review planned flight route, briefing sheets, and forecasted conditions.
• Conduct all required pre-flight checks and complete associated documentation.
• Collaborate with the Captain on fuel planning, alternates, and operational restrictions.

In-Flight Duties:

• Execute or monitor all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists.
• Cross-check flight instruments, including altitude, speed, and heading.
• Alert the Captain to deviations, hazardous situations, or abnormal instrument readings.
• Conduct R/T communications as required.

Post-Flight Duties:

• Complete all post-flight procedures according to the Operations Manual and FCOM.
• Submit all relevant reports and documentation, including IQSMS.

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential).
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred).
• Class 1 SACAA Medical Certificate (Essential).
• Boeing Type Rating (Advantageous).
• Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (Advantageous).
• Non-Type Rated or Boeing Type Rated with a minimum of 1,500 flight hours, including 500 hours Multi-Turbine (Essential).
• Multi-crew experience (Essential).
• No existing medical conditions.
• Willing to sign applicable training bonds.
• No criminal record; willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing.
• Own transport and valid RSA Driver’s License.
• South African citizen with valid ID and passport.
• Willingness to work irregular rostered hours.
• Thorough knowledge of SACAA regulations, ICAO, Doc 8186, and commercial/ATPL licensing.
