Job Description
As a First Officer at FlySafair, you will ensure the safe, efficient, and timely operation of flights while supporting the Captain and maintaining high operational standards.

Operations:

• Conduct flights safely, monitoring flight path, aircraft systems, and performance.
• Perform all pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks and procedures.
• Communicate with internal departments, external service providers, and passengers.
• Navigate and operate the aircraft in compliance with aviation regulations and company procedures.
• Submit accurate and complete legal and administrative documentation.
• Assume command if the Captain becomes incapacitated.
• Stay updated on SACAA, ICAO, and company operations manuals.
• Assist the Captain with operational and administrative duties, including crew discipline and appearance.
• Follow FlySafair Standard Operating Procedures and carry out additional duties as required.
• Ensure safe navigation, continuous position checks, and terrain clearance.
• Provide advice and assistance to the Captain to support safe and efficient flight operations.
• Maintain professional conduct, discipline, and appearance, supporting crew expertise and morale.

Pre-Flight Responsibilities:

• Review planned flight routes, briefing sheets, and forecasts, including destination and alternate aerodrome conditions.
• Perform all required checks and complete necessary documentation.
• Collaborate with the Captain on fuel planning, alternates, and any flight restrictions.

In-Flight Responsibilities:

• Execute and monitor all normal, abnormal, and emergency checklists according to Operations Manual, FCOM, and FCTM.
• Cross-check all flight instrument readings and advise the Captain of deviations, hazards, or abnormal indications.
• Conduct R/T communications as required.

Post-Flight Responsibilities:

• Complete all post-flight procedures per OM and FCOM.
• Submit relevant documentation and reports, including IQSMS.

Job Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent
• SACAA Commercial Pilot License (Essential)
• SACAA ATPL (Preferred)
• Class 1 SACAA Medical (Essential)
• Boeing type rating (Advantageous)
• Experience on commercial jets over 20 tons (Advantageous)
• Minimum 1500 flight hours (Non-Type Rated or Boeing Type Rated), including 500 multi-turbine hours (Essential)
• Multi-crew experience (Essential)
• No existing medical conditions
• Willingness to sign applicable training bond(s)
• No criminal record; willing to undergo drug and alcohol testing
• Own transport and RSA Driver’s License
• South African citizen with proof of identity
• Valid RSA Passport
• Willing to work irregular hours on a roster
• Detailed knowledge of SACAA, ICAO, and Doc 8186
• Understanding of Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot licensing content
