FINANCIAL MANAGER

JOB PURPOSE:
To lead and oversee the financial and management accounting functions supporting the Saldanha Operations, including the vessel fleet, factories, and support services. This role ensures the delivery of accurate financial insights that drive strategic decision-making, optimise operational performance, and support the achievement of SA Fishing business objectives.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Financial Planning, Forecasting & Budgeting
- Coordinate and compile operational budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare and manage CAPEX budgets and forecasts, including detailed business cases and supporting motivations.
- Ensure accurate and timeous financial planning processes that support operational efficiency.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Management
- Oversee month-end close processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate the collation of timely and reliable operational and financial data.
- Prepare professional financial and management reports with clear analysis and commentary to support decision-making.
Operational, Capital & Cost Control Oversight
- Maintain and strengthen internal control systems in line with best practices.
- Review actual performance against budgets and forecasts, including detailed variance analysis.
- Collaborate with senior operations management to drive cost containment, efficiency improvements, and value optimisation across operations and CAPEX.
Financial & Operational Support
- Oversee fish quota reporting and reconciliations.
- Ensure delivery of accurate operational data, including remuneration information.
- Manage the Products Masterfile and costing framework, including Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong leadership to the finance team.
- Attract, develop, and retain high-performing professionals.
- Drive team performance aligned with business goals and operational excellence.
- Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- BCom CA(SA) and/or ACMA qualification.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong computer literacy and advanced numerical capability.
- Deadline-driven with the ability to perform under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of core business processes and operational finance.
- Proven influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of accuracy with exceptional attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively.
