About the Program
As a Distribution & Planning Lead, you will oversee the daily operations of distribution activities, managing both staff and the secondary distribution fleet to ensure seamless delivery to all customers. This role is critical in maintaining stock accuracy, optimizing delivery schedules, and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily operation of distribution activities and the secondary distribution fleet, including Drivers and Van Assistants.
  • Ensure customers receive their stock on time and in full, maintaining 100% delivery accuracy.
  • Monitor fleet readiness, ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy at all times.
  • Coordinate transport arrangements, collection, and deliveries while liaising with customers at store management level.
  • Oversee effective product distribution to all outlets, achieving consistent customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain control over stock dispatch, ensuring all items are accounted for accurately.
  • Manage and streamline the Proof of Delivery (POD) process, resolving outstanding PODs daily and addressing customer-related POD issues.
  • Handle stock shortages and claims, enforcing adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Approve route end cycle counts to maintain accurate stock control.
  • Manage secondary distribution fleet maintenance and operational aspects in collaboration with Route Controllers.
  • Report and document all fleet-related accidents or incidents in a timely manner.
  • Participate in warehouse cycle counts, reviewing and improving processes that impact distribution and key accounts.
  • Develop, motivate, and lead delivery drivers and crews to meet delivery schedules and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Handle all industrial relations and disciplinary matters related to the team.
  • Perform other daily tasks associated with distribution management and customer service.
  • Promote and adhere to EHS and Food Safety standards.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in warehousing and distribution, preferably within a unionised environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and SAP or equivalent ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates a results-driven approach and “out of the box” thinking.
  • Experience in FMCG distribution and Food Safety is essential.
