Data Analyst

This role ensures accurate data integration, seamless supplier collaboration, and operational efficiency.

Minimum Requirements:

• Relevant Diploma or Degree preferred
• 1–2 years Finance and Accounting experience
• 1–2 years Information Systems experience
• Experience with SAP Retail and/or Finance modules
• SAP Materials Management experience
• Essential knowledge of EDI
• Understanding of XML and GS1 standards

Key Responsibilities:

Supplier Account Management and Integration

• Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to support EDI implementation and problem resolution
• Provide expert input into business rules and EDI-related processes
• Contribute to overall EDI strategy and ensure alignment between SAP master data, transactional objects, and vendor systems
• Transcribe vendor data from SAP XI/PI into SAP ERP following XML and GS1 standards
• Integrate Pick n Pay and vendor systems, including B2B, e-trade, vendor portal, and value-added networks

Exceptions and Support

• Compile and analyse exception reports, prioritising issues and following up for resolution
• Monitor supplier tickets and daily EDI system health checks, taking corrective action as needed
• Manage inbound and outbound EDI messages using SAP ALE transactions
• Investigate failed EDI messages, resolve issues, and prevent reoccurrence
• Identify incorrect master data, confirm corrections with vendors, and advise business users

Testing

• Design test scenarios, manage vendor test sessions, and compile results
• Control testing progress from development to production

Portal Configuration and Support

• Configure portal users and services in collaboration with suppliers and development teams to deliver tailored EDI functionality

Problem Resolution

• Identify anomalies in EDI supplier transactions, investigate, and manage resolution
• Recommend functional enhancements to reduce recurring errors
• Identify opportunities to maximise supplier EDI efficiency

EDI Administration and Implementation

• Manage all EDI functionality across systems, networks, and suppliers
• Implement and roll out new EDI messages, including planning, testing, go-live, and post-go-live support
• Verify and process test EDI messages, and communicate corrective actions to vendors
• Maintain vendor master data, partner profiles, and condition records in SAP ERP
• Assist with testing interfaces between vendors, portal, SAP XI/PI, SAP ERP, and legacy systems
• Collaborate with other functional analysts and SAP consultants

General Responsibilities

• Understand purchase-to-pay processes to ensure accurate electronic alignment between vendors and Pick n Pay merchandise data
• Utilise SAP functions to produce reports and validate data quality
• Carry out tasks assigned by team leader and management
• Perform any additional responsibilities reasonably expected for the role
