About the Role

The Community Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day implementation of community-based activities. This role supports programme delivery by coordinating field teams, monitoring performance against targets, and ensuring effective reporting. Working closely with the Programme Manager, the Community Coordinator plays a key role in driving impact within the community.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach Supervision

  • Coordinate and supervise community outreach activities delivered by Health and Wellness Counsellors and Peer Educators
  • Ensure effective micro-planning to deliver comprehensive services to adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and stakeholders
  • Conduct service mapping to ensure full coverage across designated sites
  • Facilitate access to programme services in all community safe spaces
  • Hold regular team meetings to review progress and address challenges
  • Monitor staff performance, ensuring confidentiality, quality, and commitment
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and supervision to intervention teams
  • Support mobilisation efforts to identify and engage AGYW for services and support programmes
  • Conduct routine site visits to monitor implementation and provide guidance

Networking, Leadership and Advocacy

  • Collaborate with paralegals, human rights teams, public health facilities, social services, and law enforcement stakeholders
  • Promote awareness of health services, HIV testing, and prevention programmes within the community
  • Represent the programme at stakeholder engagements and meetings
  • Support youth networks and community structures to strengthen programme reach and impact

Programme Coordination

  • Support the implementation of operational plans for assigned sites
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of programme materials such as hygiene and dignity packs
  • Identify service delivery gaps and collaborate on strategies to address them
  • Conduct size estimations and maintain accurate micro-planning tools
  • Participate in research activities when required
  • Respond to internal and external enquiries related to programme activities

Reporting and Administration

  • Collect and verify reports from peer educators and field teams
  • Consolidate programme data in collaboration with data teams
  • Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly reports
  • Perform general administrative duties related to programme operations

Personal Development

  • Participate in ongoing training, workshops, and development opportunities
  • Stay informed on developments in HIV/AIDS, TB, STIs, youth development, human rights, and key populations

Organisational Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings, briefings, and team sessions as required
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management
  • Uphold organisational values and represent the organisation professionally
  • Act as a role model to promote positive behaviour and performance within teams

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualification in Administration, Community Development, or Project Management
    or
  • Enrolled Nurse qualification with community project experience
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in programme coordination within HIV prevention, SRHR, or GBV programmes focused on adolescent girls and young women
  • Experience in advocacy, programme management, people management, and training
  • Strong knowledge of human rights and key populations
