Job Overview
The Commercial Controller provides leadership support to the Commercial and Advertising & Marketing (A&M) functions by ensuring accurate financial control, risk management, and performance insights. This role partners with key stakeholders to drive business growth, safeguard company resources, and deliver timely reporting while applying governance over commercial processes and contracts.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Financial Leadership
- Lead the Commercial, A&M, and Selling Control agenda to ensure accurate management of accounts, balance sheets, and financial reporting.
- Identify potential risks and communicate findings to the SA Controller and functional leads.
- Oversee GCS control execution and remediation for S2C, R2R, and A&M processes.
- Review and approve Commercial Trading Term Agreements and Marketing Contracts.
- Conduct operational deep dives, providing insights on gaps, effectiveness, and remediation opportunities.
- Support business change initiatives including mergers, acquisitions, disposals, GTM resets, and system implementations.
- Ensure local procedures and SOA are updated and aligned with business and legislative requirements.
Net Revenue Management
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of Net Revenue according to PepsiCo policies.
- Lead mid-month D&A accruals reviews with NAMs, Channel Leads, and Planning teams.
- Develop and execute KPI dashboards and analytics to provide management insights on financial results.
- Manage Net Revenue-related balance sheet reconciliations and forward-looking provisions, including stales, buybacks, pricing errors, settlement discounts, and presell.
- Maintain custodianship of FIFO Policy and optimize cash flow in line with P&L targets.
Advertising & Marketing (A&M) and Selling
- Ensure accurate reporting of A&M and Selling spend in compliance with PepsiCo policy.
- Act as custodian of Marketplace Spend Policy for the SA Cluster.
- Provide guidance on A&M spend accounting, curving, and year-end accruals.
- Deliver actionable insights through KPI dashboards and analytics for A&M and Selling performance.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Financial Management; CA(SA) preferred.
- Over 10 years’ experience in FMCG or similar industries.
- Strong knowledge of FMCG process development and execution.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Proven project management and capability development experience.
- Ability to provide strategic assessments and guide work across multiple stakeholders.
- Skilled in simplifying complex business problems into logical frameworks.
- Deep understanding of financial modeling, evaluation, and analytics.
- Experience in change management at a senior level with cross-functional influence.
- Strong interpersonal skills to present complex business cases with confidence to senior leadership.
