Casual Cashier – Dischem Vacancies

Dischem Vacancies is seeking an experienced Casual Cashier for the Overport store. The successful candidate will support customer service at the point of sale while delivering a world-class shopping experience. Accurately record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring accuracy and eliminating any risk of fraud.

Minimum Requirements

Essential:

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Good command of the English language
• Basic customer service skills
• Willing and able to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Follow Dischem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Build professional relationships with customers
• Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain required hourly customer turnover rates
• Stay informed on current promotions and sales
• Ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers
• Apply Dischem’s 5-star communication principles consistently
• Manage cash flow accurately
• Obtain supervisor approval for all line voids and price changes
• Process authorised merchandise exchanges and returns
• Accurately transact all payments, including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
• Process loyalty and partner rewards cards (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks)
• Follow SOPs for cash drops and secure handling
• Keep personal codes and passwords secure and confidential
• Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
• Safeguard all cash in the till and handle daily takings confidentially
• Be alert to and report suspicious behaviour
• Assist customers with merchandise-related queries
• Adhere to all store security policies
