Job Overview
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking an experienced Casual Cashier for their Overport store. You will support customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a seamless and world-class shopping experience. Accurately record transactions using Dis-Chem’s operating system while following company policies and procedures, maintaining accuracy, and preventing fraud.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric
• Minimum 6 months’ cashier/till operations experience
• Computer literate (MS Office)
• Strong numerical skills
• Excellent command of English
• Basic customer service skills
• Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures
• Build professional relationships with customers
• Report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
• Maintain the expected customer turnover hourly rate
• Stay informed about current sales and promotions
• Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers
• Apply Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles
• Handle cash flow responsibly and securely
• Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor
• Process merchandise exchanges and authorised returns
• Transact all purchases and accept payments via cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted methods
• Process loyalty cards including those of accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks)
• Place cash in drop safes according to SOPs
• Keep your login credentials secure and updated
• Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts
• Maintain confidentiality regarding daily takings and discuss only with management
• Recognise and report suspicious behaviour
• Assist customers with merchandise queries
• Follow all security policies and procedures
