Dischem Vacancies is building a talent pool of skilled Casual Cashiers for our Chilli on Top stores. This strategic initiative ensures a pre-screened group of candidates is ready to step into future opportunities within Dischem Pharmacies.
Purpose of the Role
Support customer service at the point of sale while delivering a world-class shopping experience. Accurately record customer transactions on the Dischem operating system in line with company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for errors and a focus on preventing fraud.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 6 months’ cashier or till operations experience
- Computer literate (MS Office)
- Strong numerical skills
- Good command of the English language
- Basic customer service skills
- Willing and able to work retail hours
Key Responsibilities
- Follow Dischem’s customer service policies and procedures
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
- Maintain required hourly customer turnover rates
- Stay informed on current promotions and sales
- Ensure a safe environment for colleagues and customers
- Apply Dischem’s 5-star communication principles consistently
- Manage cash flow accurately
- Obtain supervisor approval for all line voids and price changes
- Process authorised merchandise exchanges and returns
- Transact all payments, including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons
- Process loyalty and partner rewards cards (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks)
- Follow SOPs for cash drops and secure handling
- Keep personal codes and passwords secure and confidential
- Ensure all outgoing items are scanned and paid for
- Keep all money safe in the till and handle daily takings confidentially
- Be alert to and report suspicious behaviour
- Assist customers with store merchandise queries
- Adhere to all store security policies
