About the Program:

The Cashier is responsible for the accurate handling of all Point of Sale (POS) transactions and related documentation, ensuring customer satisfaction and that all goods are properly paid for before leaving the store.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or a minimum of 1 year work-related experience
• Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language
• Strong numerical and administrative skills
• Ability to perform basic calculations accurately
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
• Ability to work under pressure

Key Performance Areas:

Cash Handling

• Ensure all cash, including floats and petty cash, balances with no discrepancies
• Accurately process goods and payment types at the POS terminal
• Maintain sufficient change at all times
• Perform accurate cash-ups at the end of shifts
• Deposit daily takings into the drop safe or vault
• Correctly process transactions involving other stores, deliveries, and quotes

Administration

• Sign, compile, and file all documentation related to cashier operations

Ready for Business

• Adhere to Ready for Business and Beyond My Control protocols as per the CB Way

Customer Service

• Provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all customers
• Direct customers to the appropriate personnel when needed
• Comply with the company’s dress code at all times

Safety (OHSA) Compliance

• Ensure safety of customers and staff within the area of responsibility
• Report any safety discrepancies to the Store Manager

Security Awareness

• Maintain POS system password control
• Ensure safe handling and transport of cash to the cash office per company procedures
