Role Purpose

The Branch Manager is responsible for driving the growth of the customer base and revenue of Sanlam Retail Mass. This role leads the branch strategy, manages sales performance, and ensures operational excellence while fostering a strong service culture to deliver an optimal client experience.

Key Responsibilities

Branch Leadership and Strategy

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the execution of the retail branch strategy.
  • Guide, integrate, and standardise activities, goals, and objectives of Sales Consultants in line with the strategy.
  • Lead a service-focused culture and ecosystem within and beyond the branch.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the branch, ensuring smooth functioning and business continuity.
  • Drive branch planning, business development, and long-term growth initiatives.

Sales and Client Engagement

  • Ensure consistent branch sales delivery and achievement of performance targets.
  • Foster client retention and satisfaction by delivering a high-quality service experience.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Area Managers, business owners, and community forums.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to compliance, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, maintaining operational integrity and ethical business practices.

People Management

  • Manage operational people practices including talent management, performance evaluation, coaching, and development of direct reports.
  • Address grievances, manage leave and capacity planning, and ensure team engagement and productivity.

Planning and Reporting

  • Conduct monthly planning and reporting of branch sales, service, and operational performance.
  • Leverage data and analytics to monitor performance and inform strategic decisions.

Education and Experience

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • RE1 and RE5
  • 120 Wealth Management credits or FSCA-recognised tertiary qualification
  • Annual Class of Business accreditation
  • Compliant with current and past CPD cycles
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Service management experience is essential
  • Insurance sales experience
  • Credit and lending experience
