Role Purpose

The Branch Consultant/ Financial Advisor is responsible for promoting Sanlam Retail Mass products and growing market share within a branch environment. The role focuses on delivering professional financial advice, enhancing the client experience, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and building long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Delivery

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Sanlam Retail Mass product offerings
  • Assess clients’ financial needs, goals, and affordability to recommend suitable products
  • Keep clients informed of new products and updates, and adjust portfolios where required
  • Validate client information in line with product and regulatory requirements
  • Submit new business applications through the correct channels
  • Conduct due diligence to identify and report potential risks
  • Effectively manage daily appointments while assisting walk-in clients
  • Identify opportunities to optimise client portfolios and cross-sell value-added products

In-Branch Client Service and Retention

  • Manage and service all allocated client profiles to ensure retention
  • Send payment reminders and conduct follow-ups to maintain strong relationships
  • Monitor and manage Not Taken Up (NTU) cases and implement corrective measures
  • Maintain payment persistency to support both client and branch performance
  • Identify potential risks within client portfolios and provide proactive support
  • Advise clients on alternative payment arrangements and ensure accurate system updates
  • Assist clients with policy cancellations by providing informed alternatives
  • Resolve client queries efficiently or escalate according to the established framework
  • Provide continuous feedback to clients on the progress of escalated matters

Quality, Compliance and Development

  • Adhere to all compliance, regulatory, and quality standards
  • Maintain up-to-date product knowledge and CPD requirements
  • Identify and report potential fraudulent activities
  • Accurately document and store records of advice
  • Log activities in accordance with regulatory and operational requirements
  • Provide accurate data to support reporting and decision-making

Planning and Reporting

  • Capture and report daily activities using approved technology platforms
  • Compile weekly and monthly reports within required deadlines
  • Support the Retail Branch Manager with ad-hoc tasks as required

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in sales or marketing
  • Experience within insurance branch environments advantageous
  • RE5 qualification advantageous
  • FAIS compliant (Wealth Management) in line with DOFA requirements
  • Class of Business training to be completed within 12 months of employment
